Overview
WWRC's Vocational Training Department provides several types of work-based activities in the local community for students enrolled in its training programs. Work-based activities are structured learning events that are conducted in a supervised business setting external to the WWRC campus. WWRC's work-based activities are components of its accredited training programs and include:
WWRC's work-based activities provide students with the opportunity to develop and apply 'real-world' work experience using combined knowledge and skills acquired in their program of study with the support of a business mentor. Work-based activities also provide WWRC another means to obtain ongoing employer feedback that can be used to regularly evaluate the relevancy of training program curricula and the success of its graduates as compared to industry standards and expectations.
WWRC's Vocational Training Department complies with federal education and labor laws and regulatory guidance relative to its work-based activities for youth and young adults with disabilities. Work-Based Activities - Procedural Operations
Each work-based activity has an instructional plan for students, outlined on the Vocational Skills Record for the student's training program. The Vocational Skills Record identifies specific skills and level of competencies to be attained by the student, as well as records the student's level of performance. All work-based activities are supervised by a designated WWRC employee possessing relevant qualifications.
